Until your prodigal comes home...

encouragement along the way!

"Our loved ones may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons—but they are helpless against our prayers."

A Message from Stephen Bennett, Executive Director and Founder, SBM Worldwide and TPG

Why do I have such a heart for parents of a "prodigal" child? Because I was a prodigal myself! I put my parents, family members, and friends through a living hell for many years while I lived as a homosexual. That all changed in 1992 when I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and was born again. I had heard the gospel years earlier and was convicted in my heart of sinful issues in my life—homosexuality, alcoholism, drug addiction, bulimia, and more. After much soul-searching, I simply believed God's Word, confessed and repented of all my sin, and asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart. I also took steps to deal with the root issues which had caused me to make poor choices. My life then began to change in ways that, to this day, still amaze me!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;

behold, all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

A Message from Irene Bennett, Co-Director and Founder, SBM Worldwide and TPG

Irene Bennett’s first book, "Until Your Prodigal Comes Home, Encouragement Along the Way," will soon be published by WestBow Press, a division of Thomas Nelson Publishing. This compassionate book expresses Irene’s heart for those who pray daily for a loved one who has strayed from Christ. Irene shares scriptural wisdom and her deep insight gained from more than a decade of ministering to brokenhearted individuals with homosexual loved ones who were raised in the church and once claimed Christ as their Savior.

Let this short excerpt from the book encourage you:

Irene Bennett Book Cover Image"In the parable of the lost sheep, we see Jesus as the Good Shepherd. He leaves His ninety-nine sheep to go out into the wilderness to look for the one lost sheep until He finds it, and He is relentless in His search. In light of this fact, is there any place where your child can’t be reached? Jesus is in the wilderness right now, pursuing your child. It makes no difference whether your child is in another country, in a crack house, residing in a mansion, or living with you in the same home—Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is relentlessly looking for him to bring him home. Jesus doesn’t give up; He stays in the wilderness until He finds him. The Word of God says this is so."

What a blessed day it will be when your prodigal returns home! While you wait, won’t you join with others who also wait and pray for their prodigal’s return?

The Parents Group (TPG) is a partner ministry with SBM Worldwide, an evangelistic outreach which proclaims to homosexual men and women the message that through Jesus Christ, COMPLETE CHANGE is COMPLETELY POSSIBLE.
